Freshman Physical Education and Health |

| Freshman will have one semester of Health and one semester of PE class. Health Education covers growth and development, nutrition, drugs, alcohol, tobacco, disease control, mental health, health sociology, personal hygiene, health in the environment, and first aid. The course is designed to make students aware of health related issues in order to make reasonable decisions about their life-style. The physical education curriculum will cover badminton, softball, strength training, and swimming. | |||

Sophomore Physical Education |

| Sophomore PE will cover tennis, soccer, volleyball, and teambuilding during the fall semester. Second semester the students will experience dance and water polo. One quarter of the second semester is focused on Fitness For Life. The Fitness for Life curriculum will help a learner: become knowledgeable about the benefits of physical activity to health and well being and about the principles of fitness, become physically active while pursuing goals to become physically fit, become an independent decision maker who can plan his or her own personal fitness program. | |||

Junior/Senior Elective Program

| A fitness curriculum will be offered that will help a learner become knowledgeable about the benefits of physical activity to health and well being and about the principles of fitness, become physically active while pursuing goals to become physically fit, become an independent decision maker who can plan his or her own personal fitness program. Junior Gym Leaders |

| Students must apply at the beginning of the second semester of the sophomore year to be considered for a gym leader. Those students who are selected will be trained their junior year in advanced skills of various activities, emergency water safety, first aid, adult CPR, officiating techniques, care of equipment, tournament construction, as well as the development of leadership qualities and organizational procedures. | |||

Senior Gym Leaders |
| Students selected for this course will be assigned to various physical education classes on different levels. They will assist the physical education instructor by leading exercises, giving demonstration of skills, and giving assistance to the instructor. |

Advanced Physical Fitness/ Athletic Performance Training
|
| Advanced Physical Fitness (to be known as Athletic Performance Training) is a class based on the five fundamental foundations of fitness, agility, muscular strength, muscular endurance, flexibility and body composition. Students will be provided an individualized training schedule using all of the aspects of speed, flexibility, strength, conditioning and nutrition in order to prevent or rehabilitate injuries, assist and enhance performance, personal abilities and self image. Students will be expected to meet or exceed the state goals for physical development as set by The Illinois State Board of Education. ONLY FOR THOSE STUDENTS WHO WISH TO BE PHYSICALLY CHALLENGED. |
