Ceramics & Photography

CERAMICS I

One semester course. One-half credit. Open to students in grades 11 and 12. Prerequisite: none.

This is a course designed to give students an understanding of the physical and aesthetic properties of clay. Students will learn basic hands-on building techniques, glazes and design principles to organize their designs in order to complete projects in clay.


Ceramics I Student Work

CERAMICS II

Elective. One semester course. One-half credit. Open to students in grades 11 and 12. Prerequisite: CGPA of 2.0 or better in Ceramics I.

This is an advance studio to continue the basic skills developed in Ceramics I and apply those skills to more complex techniques in clay. Emphasis will be on a creative and imaginative approach to the media.


Ceramics II Student Work

CERAMICS III
Elective. One semester course. One-half credit. Open to students in grades 11 and 12. Prerequisite: CGPA of 3.0 or above in Ceramics I and Ceramics II.

This class is designed to further develop the student's special interest in the area of ceramics and prepare for college level art courses. The student needs to be highly motivated and able to work independently. The student will work with the instructor to meet mutually agreed upon objectives. A fee will be assessed.

 
Ceramics III Student Work

PHOTOGRAPHY
Elective. One semester course. One-half credit. Open to students in grades 11 and 12. Prerequisite: high interest in photography and a manual 35-millimeter camera with f-stops and shutter speeds. (No digital cameras.)

This course offers instruction in use of the 35-millimeter camera plus other cameras and equipment. The creative use of the camera and related art fundamentals as they apply to photography are explored. Students will be responsible for their film and development costs.
