Term Paper Packet

BBCHS Term Paper Packet

On these web pages, you will find the same information as the 2003-04 edition of the Term Paper Packet.   However, keep in mind that any changes announced by the classroom teacher are more important than the information presented here.   Also, these web pages are presented to help students; they are not intended to replace the term paper packet.  Lastly, some formatting changes in the text have been made from the Term Paper Packet to make the information more readable on a web page.  However, we have made every attempt to retain the required formatting in the examples.

Requirements for the Term Paper

The paper may be handwritten (on one side only of the paper) or typed. It must contain 1000 - 1500 words. Typed papers must use a standard 12 point font. (This text is written in 12 point font.)

If the paper is written by hand the student must use dark blue or black non-erasable ink.

Three to five different sources should be used. Only once source may be an encyclopedia of any kind, printed or electronic.

The paper must include a thesis statement in the outline and the statement must also be included in the introductory paragraph. The thesis must be written in report/statement form.

The final paper must include the following parts:
    1. title page
    2. final outline
    3. body of paper including source citations
    4. works cited page

No covers are to be used. The paper will be stapled in the upper left-hand corner in the order given above.

Do not include any graphs, illustrations, charts, pictures, etc.

The following point system will be used to grade this paper:
    Neatness - 5 points
    Title page - 5 points
    Outline - 10 points
    Body - 40 points
    Parenthetical
    Documentation - 20 points
    Works Cited - 20 points

The grade will then be based upon this grading scale:
    100 - 92 = A
    91 - 84 = B
    83 - 76 = C
    75 - 70 = D
    0 - 69 = F
This paper will count as one-third of the student’s nine weeks’ grade.
