Text Box: Aquaponics is a system that incorporates aquaculture and hydroponics to product food in a way that conserves soil, water and real estate. The process can produce more food quicker than traditional agricultural methods. An understanding of biology, chemistry and ecology are essential in successful aquaponics systems. This is one of my interests that allows us to apply science to address issues that are important to society and to every student.

Text Box: A future project will be the development of a system that combines raising fish and growing plants in a symbiotic system. This system will develop into its own individual ecosystem and will be self sustaining.

Text Box: The new science lab at BBCHS will be the home of the science department's aquaculture project. Once the project is complete, we will be raising Tilapia in the system.
